March 2026
Welcome to Spring in Texas! They say spring does not officially start until March 20th, but that does not always hold true here in Houston. It certainly looked like lawn mower season had already started in my neighborhood!
As the year continues to move forward, I find myself getting more and more excited about what is ahead. Each March, we host a joint luncheon with the Houston CPCU Chapter, and I have a strong feeling this year’s event will be one of the best joint luncheons we have ever held. We will be discussing the power of credentials like the CPCU and RIMS‑CRMP, not just on your résumé, but in how they show up in your day‑to‑day work.
The luncheon will be led by Stephanie Fischer, a true titan in our industry, and she will be joined by Reed Wykes from Hilcorp, Elijah Roe Posada from Aon, and possibly one more equally respected voice. Panels like this, focused on practical topics you can apply directly to your work, are exactly why I love being part of RIMS. I hope many of you will join us on March 18th. This is truly a luncheon you will not want to miss.
In other news, I would be remiss if I did not mention the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo! March is such a special time in our city, with spring arriving and the Rodeo in full swing. I hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy the carnival, the Rodeo itself, and all the other festivities. I am always inspired by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo when I think about the power of volunteers and the charitable mission they serve, something that aligns closely with what we value as a chapter.
As you look ahead to the coming months and begin making summer plans, please keep the following events on your radar:
Astros Game Day – May 14
Texas Regional RIMS Conference 2026 – August 10–12, San Antonio
From the board
Happy March!
We hope to see you at the Joint HTX RIMS & CPCU Society Luncheon, March 18th at the Briar Club!
Speaking of education... The Board has been busy working behind the scenes with the Spencer Foundation to launch the HTX RIMS Libby Evans Scholarship! HTX RIMS so greatly appreciates Libby's contributions to our industry and local chapter, and we are thankful for the Spencer Foundation for helping us honor Libby's legacy and facilitate this opportunity for future risk professionals! We look forward to contributing to the success of the named scholarship recipient. More details to come!
Stay tuned. Get involved. Let’s finish Q1 strong!
Cheers,
HTX RIMS Board
